L.R. Baggs Anthem Tru Mic System
The long (and I stress the long part) wait is finally over. The all new L.R. Baggs Anthem is finally here. After what has seemed like an eternity we finally have these amazing new pickups in stock and ready to install. This new design is a totally different take on how to amplify an acoustic guitar. Unlike all previous systems that used either a sound hole pickup or under saddle transducer which in combination with an internal condenser mic allowed you to roll in a little of the mic with the pickup always being in the forefront, this new system features a new concept in condenser mics mounted on the bridge plate with the under saddle trandsucer only bringing out the lowest frequencies. This gives you a more natural sound but with very high resistance to feedback. A huge plus for those of us who have very nice guitars that we don’t want to really alter the tone. The discreet control unit features a volume control, a blend to bring in more of the transducer, a phase switch, and a 5 segment L.E.D. which monitors your battery life. That means no more guessing if you’re going to make it through the gig without the battery dying. There is also a “lite” version of the Anthem Tru Mic system (Tru Mic SL) which gives you a volume control, but eliminates the blend control, the phase switch, and the battery monitor.

Breedlove Releases the New American Series
The New Breedlove American Series is a winner in every way possible. An all solid wood line, American made in Bend, Oregon, and with several models to choose from in this very attractively priced new lineup it’s sure to have something to please even the most discerning player. With models ranging from an OM, OOO 12 Fret (one of our favorites), two Dreadnaught styles, a Grand Concert, and even a tenor guitar.
These guitars start under the $1000 price range and all include a lifetime warranty and hardshell case. One of the great things about this new lineup besides the great feel, look, and tone, is that you can also custom order these guitars and choose from a long list of options without spending a ton of money. Stop by and check them out. We think you’ll be just as excited as we are about them.

The JamHub: The Ultimate For Rehearsing Bands
One of my responsibilities as Director of Music Education at Fazio's is to oversee our 'Fazio's Rock Academy' program (an after school and summer camp program that places students in rock bands comprised of their peers). Within this program, we often require student bands to rehearse using a “silent” rehearsal station. This means that each band can hear one another using headphones that are connected to a mixer, power amp, and headphone amp of some kind. This allows us to have two or more rehearsals going on at the same time in the same room because all one can hear from the outside is the vocalist, the drum sticks hitting the pads of a digital drum kit (we prefer the Roland HD-1 V Drums Lite kit), and guitar and bass strings being struck.
In the past, I used a combination of pieces to achieve the function of a “silent” rehearsal station. A powered mixer, a separate unpowered mixer, a headphone amp, and several sets of headphones were all part of the solution. However, this presented a few problems that I just had to live with including: all players receiving the same sound mix, lack of fidelity and definition in the mix, malfunctions within one component disabling the entire chain, and quite a few others. This was until I learned about a new product called the “JamHub”.
The designers at JamHub seemed to have read my mind. I needed a solution that combined all of the above mentioned components in one compact and reliable piece. The various models of the JamHub do just that. The model that suits our needs the best is the GreenRoom model. The GreenRoom gives a rehearsing band the following features:
- 21 audio channels for up to 7 musicians
- 7 XLR and 7 TRS input jacks
- SoleMix™ controls for each section so everyone creates their own mix
- 4 SoleMix remote jacks (1 remote included)
- 1-R switch for quickly listening to recording mix
- R section for connecting to MP3 or recording
- Built-in 24-bit stereo effects including reverb, delay and modulation
- Stage control (panning) gives each player virtual stage location in rehearsal studio
- Phantom power (+48V)
- USB out for direct recording to computer
Needless to say, the JamHub GreenRoom provided the Fazio's Rock Academy program with all of the features I was looking for and more. However, bands outside of our program would be interested to know about the BedRoom and TourBus models. The BedRoom model offers a many of the same features as the GreenRoom but does so in a more limited package at a lower price. The TourBus model augments the GreenRoom by adding a built in digital recorder as well as a built in metronome or “click track”.
The good people at JamHub have anticipated many of the questions about features, functions, and capabilities and have loaded their website with all of the info you could possibly ask for and more. Check out www.JamHub.com There you'll find full descriptions of each model, online tutorials, various set up diagrams for bands, FAQ's and much more. Fazio's currently stocks the BedRoom and GreenRoom models. We can also special order any of the models should you or your band decide you need a JamHub! Prices for each of the models are as follows:
