Editor for Mel Bay Publications and author of their Children's Ukulele Method Lee "Drew" Andrews presents a new ukulele class geared for kids between the ages of 7 and 12. Students will learn basic Uke melodies, chords, techniques, and songs. They will also have a lot of fun in the process! This beginning level piano course will be broken into three age groups: 4-6 year olds, 7-9 year olds, and 10-12 year olds. Throughout the six-week course, emphasis will be placed on proper technique, basic note reading, and repertoire. The session will conclude with a recital. This class is designed to be a primer for private instruction. Space is limited.

Instructor Diane Kaminsky will introduce a new artistic theme during each of the four class meetings. Vocal music, art, games, and movement activities will all be included. Space is limited.

DATES: Session#1: July 12-July 16, 2010/Session#2: July 19-July 23, 2010
TIMES: 8:50-3:20 Monday-Friday/Concert will be held Friday evening
FEE: $369 per student (if student is enrolled for both sessions, second session is discounted to $339)


EACH STUDENT WILL HAVE A ONE ON ONE EVALUATION WITH A FAZIO'S INSTRUCTOR PRIOR TO THE BEGINNING OF CAMP. FOLLOWING EVALUATIONS, STUDENTS WILL BE PLACED INTO BANDS ACCORDING TO SKILL LEVEL & STYLE PREFERENCE. ALL STUDENT BANDS WILL FIT INTO ONE OF FOUR SKILL LEVELS: BEGINNER, INTERMEDIATE, ADVANCED, AND ALL STAR. SPECIFIC CRITERIA IS ESTABLISHED FOR EACH INSTRUMENT (GUITAR, BASS, VOICE, DRUMS, AND KEYBOARDS). STUDENTS WILL HAVE THE CHANCE TO 'GRADUATE' TO THE NEXT LEVEL AND BE PLACED IN A BAND WITH PLAYERS OF THE SAME SKILL LEVEL UPON EACH EVALUATION. FAZIO'S ROCK ACADEMY FEATURES AN ALL NEW SONG LIST OF 100 CLASSIC AND MODERN ROCK SONGS. EACH SONG WILL BE GRADED BEGINNER, INTERMEDIATE, ADVANCED, OR ALL STAR TO COINCIDE WITH THE SKILL LEVEL OF EACH STUDENT BAND. EACH BAND WILL BE ASSIGNED A PROFESSIONAL FAZIO'S INSTRUCTOR. THIS INSTRUCTOR WILL SERVE AS THE BAND'S COACH FOR THE ENTIRETY OF THE SUMMER CAMP SESSION. THE SESSION WILL CONCLUDE WITH A ROCK CONCERT PERFORMED BY STUDENT BANDS AT THE DOXA ARTS CENTER....A REAL, PROFESSIONAL VENUE WITH SOUND AND LIGHTING LIKE THE PROS USE!

SUMMER CAMP SESSIONS INCLUDE: 'QUIET' BAND REHEARSAL STATIONS, SONGWRITING CLASSES, ROCK MUSIC THEORY CLASSES, PLENTY OF STAGE TIME FOR EACH BAND, AND SPECIAL GUEST APPEARANCES BY LOCAL PROFESSIONAL ROCK ARTISTS!

Prior to the start of classes, instructor Dan Rubright will provide each student with some introductory materials (written materials and mp3's) via email designed to give students a head-start going into class. Some other details:
>>No previous songwriting required.
>>Beginning players welcome.
>>Subjects covered: creating chord progressions, creating melodies,
writing lyrics, choosing instruments, etc.
>>On last day of class we'll professionally record songs written in
class to CDs which students take home.

Dan Rubright has taught this course to diverse groups of various age levels with truly inspirational results. Students arrive with little or no songwriting experience, and leave with completed original songs, and CDs of their accomplishment.

Students learn the importance of:
>>Keeping a personal journal
>>Developing critical listening skills
>>Listening to one's own heart for creative breakthroughs
>>Having a lot of fun in the process!

Dan Rubright is a sought after teacher and has been an adjunct faculty member of Webster University in St. Louis for many years. Along with his writing, producing, performing and teaching, Dan leads songwriting workshops called "The Song Within You" and is the instructor for the "Fazio's Songwriting Workshop" classes.

Six week course created especially for young beginners. A great way to get started playing guitar. We'll make it easy and fun while making sure the kids learn correct technique so there'll be no limit how far they can progress. Materials: Your own instrument (rentals available) and (optional) a tuner. A text book (title TBD) will be required ($8-$12).

If you're an adult (16+) and have always wanted to try your hand at guitar, this is the class for you. No previous music making experience needed. We'll assume everyone is starting from scratch and so we'll go as slowly as necessary. We promise to keep things light and fun, while you are learning all about your guitar and how to form and strum easy chords. We'll provide simple song sheets and other materials we've created especially for GUITAR 101 which is only offered here at Fazio's. Most importantly we'll make sure you have a great time.

If you have always wanted to try your hand at Ukulele, this is the class for you. No previous music making experience needed. We'll assume everyone is starting from scratch and so we'll go as slowly as necessary. We promise to keep things light and fun, while you are learning all about your Uke and how to form and play basic chords and melody. We'll provide simple song sheets and other materials we've created especially for UKE 101 which is only offered here at Fazio's. Most importantly we'll make sure you have a great time.

If you have always wanted to try your hand at Mandolin, this is the class for you. No previous music making experience needed. We'll assume everyone is starting from scratch and so we'll go as slowly as necessary. We promise to keep things light and fun, while you are learning all about your mando and how to form and play basic chords and melody. We'll provide simple song sheets and other materials we've created especially for Mandolin 101 which is only offered here at Fazio's. Most importantly we'll make sure you have a great time.
