in the trem arm hole to a Floyd Rose assembly, we are likely to have it here.
Please feel free to drop by or give us a call and let us help you find what you need.
Straps: We carry a very large selection of straps for acoustic and electric guitars, bass, banjo, dobro and mandolin.
We stock a full line of Levy's Leathers, Perri's Leathers, Long Hollow, and for those of you looking
for the best...El Dorado and Moody Leathers fit the bill with the highest quality leather money can buy.
El Dorado: Individually crafted by skilled artisans in the traditional methods of fine
saddlemaking, El Dorado leather guitar straps exemplify the fine art of hand-tooled Western
leatherwork and hand-engraved metalwork.
Moody Leathers: Most musicians want a strap that melts into their shoulders and doesn't
slide around. They also don't appreciate beads, buckles, and other accoutrements that might
scratch their instrument. The primary solution, according to Allison Suter, was to manufacture
her straps only with exquisite Italian leather that provides a buttery feel and delivers maximum
comfort.
“I could use lower-quality suede and leather for the inside layers of my straps, but I don't,”
says Allison. “No one sees those layers, but they feel them.”
“I could never understand why a musician would hang their beloved guitar or bass on an inexpensive
strap,” says Suter. “Music is all about feel and sensation, and, you know, I couldn't imagine
cuddling up in bed with a $15 strap. And to any musician who doesn't even think about his or her
strap, I can only ask them to consider this: It's what holds the instrument that makes the music.”
We can only add that if you haven't strapped on a Moody yet, you're missing one of the greatest
pleasures as a musician. Thanks Allison.
Picks: We carry a pretty complex line of picks to meet any style of playing. We carry several of
the more common brands such as Dunlop, Cool Picks, Fender, Martin, and Clayton, but we cater to
some of the more esoteric brands like National, Alaska, Golden Gate, ProPik, Fred Kelly, and
Red Bear New Tortis picks.
Red Bear: This has become our favorite pick here at the store. You just can't get a plastic pick
to sound like these. In the mid-to-late 19th century there was a high demand for items made from
the shell of the sea-going Hawksbill Turtle. It's shell had proerties that made it feel warm and
comfortable. It just plain "felt good" to the touch. It was immune to static charge. That's why
so many items made from it were items that were held close to the body. Ladies' hair combs,
knitting needles and fountain pens...etc. The problem was that the shell material was difficult
to come by and therefore very expensive. An alternative was sought out. A new material was
formulated from a dairy by-product and this new material fit the bill very nicely.
For almost 40 years John Greven has toiled to find the perfect substitute for tortoise
shell picks. This material is a polymerized animal protein that has many of the same physical
properties as real turtle shell which makes it ideal for guitar picks. You could look at it as
cultured turtle-shell. Many people who have tried picks made from this material cannot tell
them from the real thing. Red Bear Trading Company is the sole manufacturer of these picks.
We call this material "New Tortis" to distinguish it from the Tor-Tis that is used for pick
guards. |
